Coronavirus Health Policy 📌

Our health policy is to adopt the procedures and advice by Public Health England, the NHS and the UK Department of Education.

As guidance on the current coronavirus outbreak continues to be updated, we will remain vigilant and communicate any necessary policy updates as these come through.

NHS information for all pupils, parents and tutors can be found HERE.

1. If you/your child and family have travelled to the affected COVID-19 areas, please follow current government advice.

Category 1 countries: Travellers should self-isolate, even if asymptomatic, and call NHS 111 to inform of recent travel. Go home or to your destination and then self isolate.

Category 2 countries: Travellers do not need to undertake any special measures, but if they develop symptoms, they should self-isolate and call NHS 111.

Most updated listings can be found HERE.

Please contact your tutor/pupils as soon as possible if you or your family has to self-isolate. We will then try to make alternative lesson arrangements.

2. Prevention of Virus Spread

2.1 Hand-washing

In the interest of everyone's wellbeing, we are requesting all attendees of piano lessons to wash hands thoroughly before the lesson takes place.

Studio pupils (including parent and any waiting sibling) should wash hands at home just before leaving whenever possible.

If coming straight from another activity, please arrive a few minutes early to allow for hand-washing at your tutor's/pupil's house.

Hand sanitising gel is in short supply at the moment (!), and anyhow, hand-washing is by far the best method.

2.2 During the lesson

Have tissues available during the lesson to catch any sneezes, coughs and to maintain proper hygiene. These should be placed into a plastic bag and thrown away.

2.3 Teaching environment

Wipe down piano keys using an anti-bacterial wipe before each lesson. If you have a tutor coming to your home, please make sure that anti-bacterial wipes are available.

Studio tutors, at the beginning and the end of each teaching day, disinfect the keys, piano bench and door handles.

3. Future Travel Plans

If you and/or your family have plans to travel abroad in the near future, please refer to the most current foreign travel advice HERE regarding health risks and any required procedures upon return.

4. How you can help

If you/your child has been off school/work due to illness, please contact your tutor to arrange an alternative lesson day. You/they should not attend the piano lesson as usual.
